Roman Cursive
Roman cursive script, a form of handwriting used in ancient Rome, was prevalent from at least the 2nd century BC to the 7th century AD. It served as a quick, informal method for writing letters, business records, and other documents. There are two primary types: Old Roman cursive and New Roman cursive, and likely developed from writing on wax tablets, which influenced its shape. Below is a sample of my 'New Roman cursive', in the form of a letter from a Roman officer (based on one found in Oxyrhynchus in Egypt AD103). Written on papyrus with a reed pen, the first two lines are in Latin for whom the letter addresses, then it is in English.
